For most Series 2 TiVo's & DirecTiVo's including models TCD230040,
TCD240080,
Hughes HDVR2, etc.
This is what you get in the TiVo Mounting Bracket Kit:
(1) Mounting Plate
(4) Rubber Grommets
(4) Metal Standoffs
(5) Machine Screws #6 x 1/2" long with Lock-Washers
(1) Machine Screw #6 x 1/4" long with Lock-Washer
(4) Plastic Washers 1/16" thick
(2) #6 x 3/4" Self-Tapping Screws
(1) Adjustable Linkage Arm
(1) C-Clip
(1) #6 Lock Nut
(2) #6 Metal Flat Washers
(1) 3mm Lock Washer
(1) 3mm x 30mm Screw
(1) 7/8" long Plastic unthreaded spacer
(1) Plastic hex internally threaded spacer (not used)
Insert the Blue Grommets into the large holes on
the top of the bracket.
A small screwdriver helps
make it an easy job.
Insert a #6 x 1/2" long screw thru the Mounting Plate
and thru the elongated hole in the Linkage Arm.
Thread the #6 x 1/2" Long Screw into the #6 Locknut.
Tighten the Screw into the Locknut and
position the
linkage approximately as
shown. Tighten snug so
that the linkage
arm can be slid in and out.
Position the Mounting Plate as shown. Make
sure to line up the holes in the Mounting Bracket as
shown. The hard drive connectors are at the
left
in the picture.
With the Mounting Plate positioned on top of the disk drive,
line
up the holes in the Blue Grommets with the threaded
holes in the disk drive. Insert the Metal Standoffs
in
the
Blue Grommets.
Line up the 4 screw holes in the hard
drive with
the Blue Grommets. Put a #6 x 1/2" Screw thru
the White Plastic Washer and into each of the screw
holes in the hard drive as shown. Snug up each
Screw.
This is what the bracket should look
like after
it is
secured
to the hard drive. Note that the drive connections
are on
the left side.
Insert a #6 x 1/4" Long Screw with
Flat Washer
thru
the hole (top picture) and at the same time,
insert
the C-Clip under the motherboard and
on top of the
screw that you have inserted
thru the bottom.
Tighten the screw from the
bottom into the threaded
C-Clip. Note that the C-Clip does not sit on top
of
the motherboard but rather on the bottom of the
TiVo case.
The mounting points for the Mounting
Bracket
are
circled in the picture above.
Lay the assembled hard drive with
Mounting
Bracket
on the mounts and adjust the Linkage
Arm
to line up with the hole in the C-Clip next
to the power supply.
Screw two 1/2" Self Tapping Screws
thru the Mounting
Plate into the edge
mounts. Note that the mounts
are not threaded so you are cutting threads as you
are threading the screw in. Install a #6 x 1/4"
Long Screw thru the Linkage Arm into
the C-Clip.
Snug up all screws.
Connect the cables and you're done!
Note: You may find that you have a
couple extra screws or other parts left over. Don't worry,
this is normal. We use the same hardware kit for other
brackets that mount differently.
Alternate instructions IF you do not have a hole
in the bottom of your TiVo case that lines up with the hole in
the motherboard between the power supply and the original disk
drive.
The mounting points for the Mounting
Bracket are
circled in the
picture above. Note that the exact location of the left mounting
point
will be determined in
the next step.
Screw two 1/2" Self Tapping Screws
thru the Mounting
Plate into the edge
mounts. Note that the mounts
are
not threaded so you are cutting threads as you are
threading the screw in. Support the front edge of the
bracket with your hand until the two screws are tight.
Swivel the linkage arm counter-clockwise and
find a Torx
screw that is holding the motherboard down that will line up
with the round hole in the linkage arm. Remember that
you can pull the linkage arm in or out to help line it up
with a screw hole. Remove this Torx screw that is holding
the motherboard.
Next place the unthreaded plastic
spacer on top
of the screw hole. Then swivel the linkage arm
over
it lining up the hole in the linkage are with the hole
in
the spacer and the threaded hole thru the motherboard..
Next take the 3mm x 30mm screw
and put the lock washer
and a flat washer on it and insert it thru the linkage
arm,
thru the spacer, thru the motherboard and thread into
the
TiVo case where the Torx screw originally was located.
This is what the final assembly looks
like. Hook up the cables
are you are done.
Note: You may find that you have a
couple extra screws or other parts left over. Don't worry,
this is normal. We use the same hardware kit for other
brackets that mount differently.
